Ten years ago today, Central Valley television viewers getting ready for their work commutes were introduced to a new show - called "The Morning Show" for the first year - on the station, which replaced ratings-sagging kiddie cartoons. And you might say that, after a decade, many have gotten used to Toma, co-host Marianne McClary and the gang as part of their morning routines.
Created as an alternative to network-affiliated morning news programs on Channel 3 (KCRA), News10 (KXTV) and CBS 13 (KOVR), "Good Day Sacramento's" recipe calls for a dash of news, a dollop each of traffic and weather and heaping helpings of personality, chitchat and local lifestyle reporting. Because Channel 31 (KMAX) doesn't have the luxury of a network morning show, such as NBC's "Today," it has had to do the heavy ratings lifting.
