I'm using the beta of IE7 right now and it's pretty nice.

There are two versions of IE that get installed, a full version and one with ActiveX and such disabled. I'm not big on tabbed browsing, but it works pretty much the same way as in Firefox. Click a link with the scroll wheel and the link will open in a new tab or right click a link and select open in new tab. As you can see, next to the current page being viewed tab, there is a blank tab, when you click on it, it opens a blank page and there you can enter a new URL. Favicons are displayed in the tabs just like in Firefox.

There is a search bar on the top right, and what’s nice is that if you chose another search engine besides MSN, if you type in a URL incorrectly it will take you to whatever search engine you selected. For example, I use Yahoo, so if I want to go to XMs website, but type in www.xmradif.com, Yahoo will open up with a list of suggested sites.

Also below is a shot of this site in RSS. Honesty I don’t know what RSS is, other then it’s has something to do with Blogs and it’s not supported in IE6 or something like that, Don’t know how it shows up in IE6, but displays nicely in IE7.

As for page rendering, it seems a little faster then IE6, not much though.

Below are a bunch of screenshots of IE7 with the actions I described above. Overall this appears to be a great browser and I can’t wait until it is final. About the only thing I don’t like is that you can’t move the menu bar directly underneath the title bar.

RSS is for much more than just blogs. I'm reading this forum using RSS.

It's most useful for news sites but works great for any site that has periodic new postings. What's great about it is that I can pull all those postings from all the different sites into one app with a tree list on the side that lists each RSS feed and how many unread postings are in each feed.

I have been using the RSS feed with DBSTalk with Firefox for the last month. Very nice feature and in this case ask like a new ticker. You can see the headlines pop up as they come in rather than having keep the web page up.

Search option and tabbed browsing looks familar. Welcome sight.

Does it have skins yet? How about a nice pluggable integration so people can expand on it. The Weather indications below on the bottom status indicator is a plug in as is the RSS feed and the AdBlocker.

Not trying to flame here Steve, just felt that a number of the items appearing on 7 have been in the competition for a long while. Yeck when I first looked at the screen caps I the looks was scary familar..

I can only take this to mean that the guys in Redmond are a bit nervous about what they are seeing come out of the mozilla crowd.

Competition is always a good thing. As to the menu bar being where it is in the Beta, hopefully it will move. I like the menu bar below the Title myself. I looked at Netscape 8 and there was some nice ad stuff in there. Nice to see the browser world progressing. Just hope they can adhear to standards better. IE specific sites are plan evil!!!!

I find it amusing that with IE7, Microsoft is once again violating their own decade old UI giudelines. Who needs consistancy across applications; I like every program to have a unique interface. :barf:

What are they thinking with placing the tabs and menus where they are? It's almost as if they want to silently sabotage any real use of tabbed browsing.

Oh, and IE7 will continue to have half-assed CSS2 support. We can't go around supporting standards now, can we? Stupid evil Microsoft :bonk1:

IE 7.0 beta 1 is crap compared to Firefox. There are way more options available with Firefox and it just looks and works better. IE has a way to go to catch up now.

I still prefer using Maxthon over IE (Maxthon uses the IE Engine) and Firefox because of one essential thing: Extensions/Plug-Ins to extend the functionality of the browser. Both browser develops seem highly interested in encouraging those Extensions. Also, the people being Firefox seem to be interested in delivering security-related patches much faster than Microsoft.

I assume you're talking about logging into DBSTalk? Clear your cookies and you should probably continue the conversation in a thread from this lunar cycle, like this one: http://www.dbstalk.com/showthread.php?t=148613.
