View Full Version : NHL Center Ice
The NHL is sure trying to find ways to win their fans back, YEAH RIGHT! Today, I was just curious to see if they had put up a price for the package, and yep they did, 4 payments of 32.25, isn't that about what the price was before the lockout? That was just the early bird price, which means it will be going up another 30 or 40 dollars when the season begins. I think a reasonable price for this would have been something like 4 payments of 25 dollars, but if Directv had anything do with the pricing of this package, now I understand why it's the same price. Thanks for your responses.

I dont think they updated it yet....I think we are in the 2005-06 season
"Get the 2004-05 season of NHL® CENTER ICE® for 4 payments of $32.25. That's a $30 savings off the regular-season price."

It might be me but the price is not that much compared to sunday ticket and you get games every night of the week. Hell the price is like the cost of 2 good tickets to a wild game my home team. I also hope if enough people get center ice it will lead to more HD games one day. Hockey is by far the best sport in HD.

They haven't posted the prices yet. I have seen much discussion on some hockey boards discussing center ice and its price this season. I could see them dropping the price by say $20, if anything at all. The people that are going to center ice are going to order it regardless of the price. Hockey being the niche sport that it is, I don't see there being too many additional people ordering center ice if it was "cheap" (say like $50). Free would be great, but I don't see that happening. I know that I'll be ordering it regardless of what they charge, just like I have been for the last 4 seasons.

I know I'm not ordering if it is too expensive. I'm a big hockey fan and I want to order it but if it's the same price as it was before I'm not ordering it.

Well, the last time I checked the NFL was the most popular sport in the USA. That's why the NHL has lost alot of fans, like you say going to see the Wild is expensive, the NHL has always thought that it was up there with the NFL and the NBA, when it hasn't been.

They've posted the prices and yes its as stated above by the OP....No price break and it goes to $159 after 10/31. Its now in one of the options if you log into your account you will see the price for the 05/06 season ($129.00 or a 4-pay of 32.25 early bird)
Would be more interesting if D* would put both feeds for each game up like E* was doing during the last season. No indication at the E* site about NHL Center Ice pricing, yet.

hockey has a rabid hard core of fans. Generally it does well in terms of filling the arena but the TV revenue (which feeds the NFL) is negligible at the national level and in most cases pretty poor at the local level too.
So i don't know that they will drop ticket prices in most cities. But something has to be done to give the sport mass appeal or the TV and endorsement revenue will stay low.

FYI, NHL has signed deal for Hockey in the USA to be on OLN and NOT ESPN this year.
