Hello...

I have a superdish installed and have a couple of Dish 311 receivers in the house (including my main receiver).

Sometimes when I change channels...this happens too often...I get the error message 002 "Signal lost" satellite 119, transponder 06 (or whatever transponder). It shows that error for a few seconds, and then the picture comes on. Sometimes its a few seconds, sometimes its a good 15 seconds.

I checked my 119 signal, and it was at like 70-75..I tweaked the dish and made it to a 95 signal yet I get the SAME problem. :(

Tried hard resetting my reciever. Any ideas?

Thanks for any help, I'm fustrated with this problem. Makes me feel like a dish noob.

Maybe it is a hardware problem? Could you check the signal strength when the problem happens, perhaps it is heat related. Could be that it needs some more fine tuning to peak it properly.

Also an idea - I see the same thing you are describing any time I fool around with checking signal levels/etc and then come out of that menu to watch TV again. On rare occasion I will see it when first bringing my 311's or 811 out of standby in the morning/after a long night's sleep. I don't see it just surfing around though like you do. :(

i'll check to see if it also happens at night...

any other ideas?

Does it happen on all your receivers? Perhaps try getting a replacement if it is just one.

hey yeah, that happens to be on just the 311. I have a 510 receiver which never does it, and I switched the cables just to be sure, and surely enough the 311 does it with either cable, and the 510 never does it either way. It's not a big deal, since it goes away after a couple of seconds, but I see what you mean. I think it would be easier on the customer if the software was patched to accomodate this hardware glitch (i.e. have the 311 wait a little longer before posting that signal not found error, to give it time to lock).

either that or you have a faulty 311. mine never does this and i have legacy equip and sometimes see 115+ degree temps on my roof here in sacramento. not seen what you describe, except in the mornings after standby or messing around in the signal strenght meters. perhaps your 311 has been out of stream for a really long time and is running old software. when i have a minute i'll see if i can reproduce though.

this happens on all of my 311 receivers...seems like a hardware problem.

Oh well, i'm planning on a future 962 DVR purchase...just gotta sweat it out for now.

thanks guys.
