I know a lot of people will complain when they have a problem with their satellite or cable company, but I wanted to let you know about a good experience I recently had with Dish Network.
My 508 DVR, which I've had for about 3 or 4 years with no problems, started to act up about 2 weeks ago. It would play a recorded program then stop, restart, play without sound, or wouldn't fast forward or reverse like normal. Last Friday night (while playing back Battlestar) the hard drive finally died and I got an error message (#0457) and was told to call Dish. I got a technician rather quickly (he spoke English). He had me do a couple of tests and agreed with me that the hard drive was dead. He got some information from me and told me they would send out another 508. I had purchased the warranty for $1.99 per month (I think it was a thread on DBSTalk that advised me to do that before the rate increase, THANKS guys). I would have to pay $14.95 for shipping but he gave me programming credit for the days I would not have use of my DVR. So it was about a wash.
I received my new 508 on Wednesday (FAST service wouldn't you say). I connected it and let it download software and then called to activate this DVR and deactivate the old one. I got a CSR quickly (spoke English also). She was very friendly and got everything switched over. It took the receiver a little while to download the guide (all 10 days). In all it took about 30 minutes from connecting to receiving all my channels.
I just wanted to thank Dish and let them know that I've been very pleased with their programming, costs, and now service!
