They don't appear to be available anywhere within the city limits of Tyler so it must be other parts of the DMA. It would sure be helpful if there was a list based on zip code that was available to look at. I've tried about 20 different zip codes from my area and none show these channels on DISH's website. On the E* website you can check what locals you qualify for with their local address search tool https://customersupport.dishnetwork.com/customernetqual/prepAddress.do

No, really? What do you think "I've tried about 20 different zip codes from my area and none show these channels on DISH's website" meant? I was referring to a list that showed which zip codes got which channels instead of manually plugging in each zip code.
It appears DISH finally updated the list online and most of the city of Tyler is in Enhanced 2 (KTBS only). If you do a search..there is a fine document in the sherva area that had a county by county breakdown of significantly viewed stations.. It was a Fcc document
Yeah next they can add UPN 14 in Madison, like 2 years later!

I wonder why they would add WTHR, the NBC affiliate and not WTTV WB 4 to the Terre Haute lineup. WTWO is the NBC affiliate in Terre Haute and the market is missing ABC, WB, and UPN. It would have made sense to add WTTV 4, WRTV 6, and WNDY 23.

JL
Addresses in Vigo County (Terre Haute), Knox County (Vincennes), and Illinois counties qualify for the lineup with WRTV and WTHR according the the Dish address qualifier. I don't understand that county list, Vigo County certainly would get WTTV, WRTV, and WNDY since the market only has CBS, NBC, Fox, and PBS.

I have that document. Apparently, you have trouble reading. I'm talking about a breakdown by ZIP CODE! The breakdown by county is different than the breakdown by zip code. What is listed as available in a specific county is not necessarily available in the ENTIRE county. A list by zip code would be much more specific. Can you please provide a link as to where these channels would be provided by zipcode? Everything in the fcc database(significantly viewed) goes by county.. Im quite sure no such zipcode list exists
James Long
09-07-05, 09:23 PM
Time out folks ... no amount of yelling will create a list that doesn't exist. What we have to work with is the FCC list.
E* is apparently figuring out the 'right' stations for each address - either by an address to county lookup (which would be handy for placing subscribers in the right DMA) or by creating their own reference list. So far they have not made an easy to read list public. You have to use the address lookups.

I am really curious how DISH and DirecTV are deciding which intra-county zip codes get which stations.
...
There has to be another list somewhere with a more detailed breakdown. That is the trouble with SHVERA and "the list" ... there isn't a more detailed breakdown. There are stations that are listed as SV for a city/town or part of a county. But that is "the list". It is up to D* and E* to figure out how to turn "the list" into something they can use to provision customers.
I suspect they are using a zip code to county cross reference of some sort - NOT a complete SV list based by zip code - and hoping that they don't get something wrong.
E* is not infallable ...
JL
No reason to expect WTTV to be any easier in SV negotiations than they were in Regular local negotitations. :)
A friend of mine has Terre Haute locals, the website says they qualify for WRTV and WTHR now. I was at their house this evening and those channels do not come in. We called Dish and they saw where it said those additional locals should be on and resent the signal or something and said the channels should come on in 5-10 minutes. They never came on, so who knows what the deal is.
May have to wait until the individual receivers are authorized for these channels by a macro in the authorization system.
Just checked my Terre Haute channels, and do not have them yet either.

Their web site is pretty bad in terms of reliability (same programmers that do the
PVR software? 8^) ). Several times I've tried to pay my bill on it and it tells me that
account-specific functions aren't available. Last week I tried again, and got to the last
confirm screen after putting in my card#, clicked submit and *poof*. Error message.
I figured it didn't go through and called the 800#. The AccountBot told me my balance
was $0, so apparently the transaction DID work. Anyway, that's the last time I use their
crappy web site to electronically pay.

Why would those counties get WRTV and WTHR (an ABC and an additional NBC affiliate) but not WTTV or WISH??? These rules make no sense at all.
No reason to expect WTTV to be any easier in SV negotiations than they were in Regular local negotitations. :)
WTTV is a Tribune station now. I don't think it was before with the regular local negotiations the first time around with Dish.

I'm really surprised to see those large markets (San Francisco, Houston) there. Wonder what they are saving the new 110 spotbeam for?

So has anyone in these local markets tried swinging a dish over there yet?

It looks like EX is getting more and more delayed, they probably want to get the markets off the wings, on to 129 to avoid any possible missing of the deadline for single dish locals. Plus it is a lot cheaper for them to just pay for one dish installs instead of 2 in these markets.
When EX goes up they can move the markets to spots and put other channels on 129 and have a lot Dish 1000s up ready to receive them.

"Plus it is a lot cheaper for them to just pay for one dish installs instead of 2 in these markets."
That's correct but what about existing customers in these markets. They will have to replace a lot of setups with a Dish1000 or swing the wing dish to point at 129. Unless they are planning to mirror the channels on 129 and the wing dishes but that doesn't make any sense since they need the bandwith.
