From Zap2It:

FOX Resets '24' Clock for Mid-JanuaryFOX is moving the fifth-season premiere of "24" back one week in January, hoping to take advantage of an NFL lead-in to give the show a ratings bump.

Originally scheduled to open Sunday, Jan. 8, the show will now begin its fifth year on Jan. 15. As it did last season, FOX is making a two-night event of the season's beginning, offering up back-to-back episodes on Jan. 15 and 16. 24 has brought back the concept of the "redshirt". In Star Trek, the security guys in the red shirts were always whacked before the opening credits rolled. In 24, the surefire was to get killed is to escort the "prisoner" of the week into custody.

Uh oh. Ambush, prisoner rescued by his associates, everyone but Jack dead.

Hasn't word gotten around CTU yet?

"Agent Jones, you're with Jack, escort the prisoner to the helipad!"

"No WAY! I'm too young to die!"

I've got to admit it, but 24 is one of my guilty pleasures. My wife hates all of the violence, but I get a kick out of it. Sure it's predictable. Yes the dialogue is plastic. But it's still fun. I couple of years ago I was down for the count for a few weeks after surgery and watched one whole season on DVD non stop. Woah!!

i like 24 also, tho last season, even tho I thought it was one of the best, relied a bit too much of jack torturing PRACTICALLY everyone TO GET THE INTEL HE NEEDED....I feel that relying on that to provide needed exposition or plot advancement is getting to be a bit of a crutch-it would be nice for the good guys to discover things using their brains instead of just shouting "we have no time!!!!this is necessary!!!" every half hour...lol
