will we ever get named recording on the 921? (my TIVO has been doing it for over 5 years now.)

if not, is there any other good dish HD PVR that can?

Welcome ijaw.

There is no current plans to have NBR in the 921. The 942 does support NBR.

If you want to know more on NBR and the 921 I suggest given the search engine a try. Lots of threads discussing this issue.

nope, this thread no longer exists. I guess I have to sell my 921 and get a 942. is the latter more robust (less buggy)?

also, I heard rumors of a newer model coming out soon. is there a list of what it is likely to feature?

never mind...I just found the 942 report. what a crazy situation. I would love to swap my 921 for a 942, but apparently my system may then be obsolete soon thereafter. arrghhh! is there a hint when the mpeg4-upgradeable version will be out? regards /iaw

If you are patient, wait for the implementation of MPEG-4. E* will have to have some kind of swap-out program for the 921 (and the rest of their HiDef IRD's as well). D* has just begun such a program. If they do it for free, I hope E* will follow. (I know, don;t hold your breath). I am hoping that the new MPEG-4 IRD's will be better than the previous (again, at the risk of turning blue...).
