At one time, I used to work as a CSR. Informed customers were more informed than we were.

I live just over the Illinois border in Kenosha Wisconsin. I have been trying for months to get Chicagoland locals without success. First I tried waivers...all denied except CBS. So then I called Dish and cited SHVERA and the SV list and how they can just provide it to me without the need for waivers...no one had a clue what I was talking about. Then they told me I would have to call the FCC, which I did and the FCC said they could give it to me. Then I called back to Dish and said go ahead and call the FCC and they will tell you what I am telling you. Then they sent me to someone supposedly in the executive office who knew nothing of SHVERA and asked me to fax the law to him. I did and have not heard anything since then. I am all out of ideas...the frustrating thing is that they keep telling me they can resubmit waivers. If they would just tell me that, yes we can provide them for you but we aren't setup to do so just yet, I would be a happy customer. But their reps and even their supervisors are flat out uninformed. Heck, if I did that to one of my customers in my line of work, I would be out of business FAST!

I hear ya. I live half-way between two cities and everyone w/ cable and decent antennas where I live get the locals from both. Of course Dish only gives me the locals for the FCC defined DMA i'm in. Whenever i've gotten anyone on the phone at Dish and asked about this I get a resounding "huh?" The response from my e-mail inquiries has been even more resounding. Absolutely nothing. I've e-mailed them 4 or 5 times over the past few months about it and never received a single answer. I guess it's acceptable business practice at Dish to just ignore your customers inquiries if you don't know the answer.

Right now our only recourse is to occasionally drop a call over to the customer service and see if they've received "the memo" allowing us to receive the locals. I may try Charlie Chat to see if I could a better answer.... my guess is that they are working on it but there's probably a couple of layers of red tape they have to go through before we can start to receive those stations.

From what Geronimo posted for me, I should be basically getting the whole Tulsa DMA to go along with the crumpy Fort Smith Ark DMA, it will be nice to watch my owns state news on the SAT, now I have to use an antenna to watch.

Well, no response from Dish regarding this matter...I bought an antenna that I am going to install hopefully this weekend. Far better than waiting...but it really doesn't do much for customer loyalty.

Update: I finally got an e-mail reply which said that there is no further new information...in the end I got to see my Chicago locals afterall...bought an antenna off of ebay and threw it on top of some bushes...great picture actually for the amount of effort/.investment...it isn't a permanent solution, but hopefully Dish will work out everything so I can put my antenna away. Actually it gets HDTV signals as well, now all I need is an HDTV,.
