I'm having problems with reception from the 119 satellite. My signal strength for ESPN2HD (transponder 28) is in the mid 30%, yet my locals which are spot-beamed on transponder 31 come in at a signal strength of 90%.

Why would the signal strength be different on two transponders from the same satellite? Thanks for any info.

The Spotbeam is concentrated on your area which makes it stronger/easier to get in than the other non-spotbeam transponders.

Right. Any spot beam under 100% on a clear day is a weaker than normal signal. Even when other channels are rained out, locals will normally remain working.

119 has a relatively recent collection of hardware and provides strong signals. Check for obstructions to your line of sight and your dish aim.
