Well, it looks like D* has really chosen to do the right thing with this one:

I received a letter from D* today, that basically said that they would be giving me the Superfan Pack for FREE next season! The reasoning on the letter was that since I didn't have the proper equipment to use all of the interactive features, they would give it to me at no charge in 2006. I am assuming they are referring to the GameMix channels.

Thanks D*!

Better read it again. It's a $49 credit against the $99 price.....you'll pay $49 next year...I got the letter too.

IMHO, it should be 100% free and included in the already ridiculously high $200 price tag.

Oh, I forgot some history...

The NFL games used to be 100% free back in the late '80s / early '90s on C-band.

Next, the Sunday Ticket came out on C-band for $90. The price went as high as $119 a few years later.

As soon as D* got exclusive rights to the games the price went through the roof.

I sure wish they would offer a "team ticket" for those of us who don't want/need every game played on Sunday. :(

Nope Dave - My letter has a $99 credit. There are many different versions of the letter.

By JL's rules, this post should be deleted.

After reading this thread I gave DirecTV "customer retention" a call to complain about my SuperFan package not being fully accesible on the H10. They have some real smooth talkers in that dept., it was actually a pleasure to deliberate my issue with him. By the end of the call he insistently apologised and told me they were working hard towards a better product offering. Yadda, yadda. About a week later I get the "Free SuperFan Next Year" letter. Cool!
