Been with E* for 2 years. Wanted to upgrade my package, add a receiver and add locals. After being told that would cost me an extra $200 up front, I started shopping. I think D* will give me everything I want minus the locals. Assuming that D* MIGHT get my locals sometime in the future, I'd like to make sure I get the right equipment to receive them the first time around, as to avoid this situation in the future.

As for receivers, I'd like to have 1 DVR and 1 regular receiver.

Any suggestions? Any certain dish to get???

TIA

Let me add to this... in the location of the current dish, there are 2 coax lines running from there to the basement which is where I keep the receivers. I use a channel plus to push out each receiver signal to the TVs... will I need more than 2 with 1 DVR and 1 regular receiver?

If you only want signal from the 101 satellite you can use the two lines and then add a 3X4 multiswitch. Seeing you are looking to future proof yourself I would recommend running 4 lines from the dish location to the basement. That would allow you to use a phase 3 three satellite dish. Regretfully I can't tell you what Directv will do about your locals, this makes your future proofing a big guess. :)

What satellites are there other than the 101, and what would I miss without them? I currently have 2 lines, but could probably run 2 more. I'd prefer to run them myself like I did the last time. The install tends to look better that way. :-)

Also, does the R10 receiver have UHF remote capability or IR only? What about any of their regular receivers?

As for the actual dish itself, is there a specific dish I should request???

and finally... is there a web page somewhere that lists the D* locals, or possible future locals... I found/have the E* one, but can't find the D* one.

thanks... I know there are a lot of questions.
