I have a 625 dvr/receiver currently. On the dish page, it says my options to upgrade to hd is the 811 receiver, which doesn't have DVR listed. If I decide to upgrade, will it be a second receiver, and will I still be able to record standard tv on the 625 and watch the dvr on both my tv's? And to get locals in hd if I do get the receiver, I'm assuming I need a seperate antenna.

Ok...It can be a second receiver if you want, its your decision. Yes you will still be able to record standard TV on the 625, and watch DVR on both, all they do is run another feed from the dish. (The 811 RECEIVES SDTV as well) You will be able to get locals, if you get a separate antenna, assuming you can get a strong enough signal from you local digital stations.

For now you want a 942 if you want to record HDTV. Rumors fly about the 962 for mpeg4 some time next year.

Honestly, I'm not real interested in recording HD, if I want HD, I'll watch it live. Anyone know how much the upgrade is for the 811? There's no price listed on the upgrade site.

I don't remember from when I had mine done. I'm grandfathered under DHP, I don't think it cost anything. (Maybe $50 or $25) Call Dish (800-333-DISH) and ask.
