View Full Version : HD channels question
While reading some of Mark's .pdf's on the 942 I noticed one of the screen shots showed a CBSHD channel (9484). I've got all the HD channels (I think), but not 9484. Is it something that should come with my package?
Thanks!
Only if you live in one of the CBS owned and operated markets. They are New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Boston, Dallas/Ft. Worth, Detroit, Minneapolis, Miami, Denver, Pittsburgh, Baltimore, Austin, Salt Lake City and Green Bay.
Boooooooo!!!!!!!! ONE market area in the entire southeast? (Miami) I'm about halfway between Miami and Tampa - but I guess my market area is considered Tampa. I repeat ... boooooo!

Blame the local broadcasters and NAB, not E* - it's one of the few things that are NOT their fault.

I think Dish also provides it to viewers in undisputed white areas. I've had it in Vt ever since I went HD over a year and a half ago.

Never would blame E*. They allow me to buy great equipment and give them money every month for enjoyable entertainment.
Here's the ironic thing ..... yesterday afternoon I'm watching a football game on channel 10 out of Tampa (my local CBS station) and along comes a commercial for channel 10's HD broadcast! (Worth noting - my channel 10 always looks blurry compared to any other SD channel.) They mentioned a web site for the station advertising their HD format ... went out to the site, darned if I could find anything mentioning HD for the station.

and blame it on Congress too.
Anyone notice that they're already running a lot of campaign ads for the '06 election ? Well the NAB is the collective bargining tool for all the afilliates and there is nothing - I repeat n..o..t..h..i..n..g more important to members of congress than campaign air time.
The specifics of the '04 SHVERA legislation were heavly influenced by the NAB and I have no doubt the draft for additional legislation currently in a Senate committee (and possibly due out this week) is also. It wouldn't surprise me if they tried to sneak some broadcast flag wording in too.
Ok .. I hope this doesn't start to get too far off topic - but I'm confused. I went to the CBS web site and followed a link for their HD stations. They show Tampa's station 10 to be HD (10.1). Who would/could I contact about picking up this station?

You won't get it from Dish at this time. For now, your only hope is to try and pull it in OTA.
