Cablevision Files to Dismiss YES Suit

As expected, Cablevision Systems Corp. filed a motion in U.S. District Court of New York to have Yankees Entertainment & Sports Network’s antitrust suit against the MSO dismissed.

The MSO filed a motion to dismiss portions of the lawsuit that accuse it of keeping the upstart regional sports network -- and its 130 exclusive New York Yankees Major League Baseball games -- off its systems for anti-competitive reasons that were not directly related to the two parties’ ongoing carriage talks.

Cablevision wants to offer YES as a pay service, while YES wants carriage on basic at $2 per subscriber.

In its filing, Cablevision said YES’ claim of antitrust violations has nothing to do with its inability to reach a distribution agreement.

And it goes on, and on, and on, and on...

This YES mess is going around in a big circle and getting nowhere. I've never seen such a bunch of stubborn (and greedy) mules. It doesn't look like anyone is going to get their Yankees anytime soon!
