I got a little gun shy on the new directv dvr..... Can I still get the Tivo? How much and how will the service last?

You can still buy one. My understanding that stated they will be supporting DirecTV TiVos indefinitely. The catch is that you will no longer get software updates. I'm betting you can easily get a DirecTV TiVo off of EBay.

BestBuy, CompUSA and Circuit City have some left, but it varies by store. In my area only CompUSA had few left, but if I wanted to drive 15-20 miles, I could get one from BB and CC.

I bought the new R15 earlier this week and so far I love it..... I keep kicking myself for not buying one way back...... It was nice to tape Survivor without setting up a VCR..... I got scared about the Tivo because directv seems to be departing from them......
