my locals are on superdish 121 (green bay wi) i would like to receive locals on 129 when traveling in my rv. I see that wausau wi locals are broadcast on both 121 and 129. why do they not broadcast green bay wi locals on both. what are the chances of broadcasting green bay wi locals on both in the future?

its all speculation. Dish still has to work out getting rid of some of the double locals. The main issue is 129 can only have up to 'x' (it is 1 or 10 million, I think 1) subscribers legally having their dish pointed to the 129 slot, so it has their hands tied as to what markets they place there (Which is why I think Dish has placed a lot of smaller locals on the 129 slot)
stick with the 121 via superdish, may be harder to do with an RV
I think you may qualify for an RV Waiver though, which grants you rights for specific out-of-market DMAs... I am sure someone else has more information on that...

Don't worry about the million ... E* can always ask for a million more. (and again as needed)
The million blanket licenses is to satisfy the obscure but valid FCC rule that requires dishes pointed at non-US DBS slots to be licensed. Not really an estimate of the number of customers they expect to serve from 129.

so why not ask for 5 million or 10?

Good question. None of the numbers seem to be magical.

Maybe the application fee is based on the number of Pizzas. :)

I still don't quite understand. why is wausau simulcast on 121/129 and green bay is not? if a new subscriber in green bay wanted locals it seems more economical to install a dish 1000 rather than a superdish 121.

There may be some reception problems in Wausau with the signal from 121 or there may not be a significant number of subscribers in Wausau and a move is possible. Obviously, all 210 markets can not be on 129, so some(many) are not.
