This is my first message. Glad I found a forum devoted to the 942. I have had mine for about 7 months and up to this latest software update, have loved it. But I have had nothing but frustration with the 942 for some time now - since L281 was loaded. The problems:
o Loses my saved timers - only after manually downloading the program update do the timers reappear, but of course I lose any programs that were not recorded
o Even though I have the program update set at 4 AM, it never seems to do it automatically and therefore at least once a week I lose my timers and have to manually update, never mind that the guide does not work until I do the update
o Sound disappears on certain channels. If I didn't see the work-around with the PIP I might have thrown the unit through a window
o Pixellation (right side, sometime at the top left) on many channels which never had a problem before; and I have a strong signal on all three satellites (+90 on all) and on all of my external antenna channels.
o I tried the multimedia "update" and when trying to transfer a moderate number of photos it crashes the 942. And is the offload of recordings just a "tease" or will it ever be implemented?
o Caller ID does not display until the third ring, but by that time I have run to a phone to see the ID and determine if I need to pick up. CallerID = useless. Before it was fine and quite a nice feature.
o The inactivity setting seems to do nothing - no matter the setting, the 942 turns off (goes quiescent) during the night. Not really a problem, but...
OK. Enough rants for now. But when will an update be made to solve at least some of these issues? If there was a way to go back to L280 I would do it immideiately (I know, not possible.)
