I recorded Boston Legal, an HD program, on DirecTV's digital ABCW channel 87 tonight as usual. However, this time the recording is full-screen (I see side boxes), not wide-screen. My receiver detects the Dolby surround track as usual. I have tried outputting at 720 and 1080, and there is no change. The zoom/squeeze functions on my HDTV do not help. This is the only time I have recorded or seen an HD program appear as a full-screen program on a digital channel. Is it really possible that this program was broadcast differently this time?
