"MTV Networks will launch a high-definition music channel in January, 2006 called MHD. Initial content will be music-focused fare from MTV, VH1 and CMT along with acquired concerts, music videos and original programming."

Don't guess there's much chance of seeing this any time before the eventual Mpeg4 rollout.

Perhaps, but then again. MTV is a significantly viewed channel and a lot of people are going to want this station. Then again, until Dish adds the other major networks and other signficantly viewed HD stations that people want, who knows what the future has in store...

DirecTV will probably beat Dish to the punch on this one again!!!... oh well... How much clearer do we really need to see Britney Spears anyways??? lol...

I'm actually surprised that MTV has waited this long to launch MHD. And MHD? The name sounds too lame. Another surprise there.

DISH has the capacity now without MPEG4. They already shuffled quite a few transponders to make room for some HD channels.

Who wants to watch crap like the real world in HD anyway. Everytime I turn on MTV all I ever see is some stupid show. When was the last time they played a video?

Now mtv2HD, now your talking. Mtv only plays reality crap shows, but mtv2 in Hd would be worth it.

When is Speedvision going to go HD that would be a desirable channel.

Actually, It's not just a feed of MTV in hi-def. It will feature shows like HArd Rock Live, Two dollar Bill, CMT's Crossroads, Unplugged, and other performance oriented shows from VH1, CMT, and MTV

That actually sounds pretty cool. I agree with the previous poster, I couldn't care less about seeing Real World or any of that crap in HD, but some big name concerts could be really cool.

To each his own. Have you watched the music channel on voom. The (PBS originated) Soundstage concerts are great. And, I gotta admit watching Gwen Stafani or Shakira on the screen does give me a :p .

They need to find the bandwitch (for sports too, and I NEVER watch that). That's why we have sat (or cable). Otherwise, my OTA antenna would be all I'd need.
