I'm having a heck of a time figuring out the remote for this DVR. I am looking to do the following:

Volume and mute: control my Pioneer receiver
Power button: Turn on/off TV (Sony) and Receiver
Every other button: control the DirecTv box

Any suggestions? The onscreen instructions are quite challenging and I have yet to see documentation anywhere on doing this.

thank you!!

Which Pioneer? I can tell you the one I used for mine once I get home tonight. The instructions are pretty easy. Slide the top switch to the position you want to have control the receiver (AV1) hold down Mute and Select until the green light flashes, then enter the code, you then have to hold down Mute and Select again and hit a special code if you want the volume buttons to control the receiver when in the AV1 position I think its 993. Now the remote should control the volume and receiver functions when in the AV1 position and the TV volume/mute when in the first position.

I believe my Pioneer used the 1st code listed, but I don't see how to check.
Don't be fooled by "receiver mode" I started down that track and I was way off.
I use AV1 for my receiver, and AV2 for DVD recorder (although I guess you don't care about that lol  )

The codes are pioneer-31023, Sony TV 10000.

To have the pioneer VOL in all devices do the following:

1. switch to AV1 or AV2 whichever has the pioneer.
2. press and hold MUTE & SELECT for two blinks
3. enter 9-9-3
4. press SELECT

Now the pioneer vol is in all devices, including TV, if you want restore the TV vol in just the TV device do the following:

1. switch to TV
2. press and hold MUTE & SELECT for two blinks
3. enter 9-9-3
4. press VOL DOWN

Ok, the volume and mute are now working correctly (Thanks!!)

Any suggestions on how to get the power button on the remote to shut off the TV and the Receiver (not the Directv box)? I'd like to preferably do this without having to move the switch around.

Sorry, but that isn't a function of the remote, won't be happening.:(

I've got a Panasonic TV (newer 42" model), and the darn remote won't even work the power unless I move the top slider all the way to the right, and hit the 'power' button in the middle. The TV power on and off button don't do squat. I've tried all the codes, called D*, they had me call Panasonic to see if they had any codes, Panasonic laughed at me, and said that D* knows in this situation they need to send a tech out to my home to do some kind of infrared something-or-other. When I talked to D* about that, they said as long as the remote controls the TV power, they won't do any more for me. It's just rather 'clumsy' to have to move that darn slider around, when the friggin' TV power buttons ought to do the trick. I know...it could be worse...

Yes, not all TV codes are treated alike, some punch through and others do not. :(

i've tried the 993 volume override several times and cannot get it to work.

wonder if I should clear the remote and set up the receiver only first. Anyone else having trouble with alternate volume?

What are you trying to do exactly? You want your Aud receiver vol in all devices?
