Hi, glad to be here, was re-directed from the Tivo Community forums. Hope to see a good deal of DirecTV info here. I do still use and R10 and a Hughes DirecTivo, and would prefer for all of those threads to just come over here too, would be easier to track issues with all of the units. :sure:

OK, on to the problem...

I got my first R15 from Value Electronics a couple of days ago. Hooked it up, had the same DVR activation issues some others have had, and one other big problem; the picture on my TV is skewed. It goes from higher to lower going left to right.

I see this in particular when I'm looking at a menu with horizontal boxes, and I notice it most toward the top of the screen. It's not a massive skew, but very apparant to me. So, I hooked a second TV to the unit. At this point, config was S video going out to TV #1 (Brand new 20" TV, but a cheap model), and RCA video out to TV #2 (many year old TV with which I've used a SA II Tivo and an R10, without any skewing that I remember). Skew was apparant on both TVs, though the picture sizes showing on the 2 tubes was a bit different. BTW, no H size \ Hold \ etc functions on either TV set.

I contacted Robert at VE who sent another one out (ps - this was first time ordering from VE, outstanding customer service, and I highly recommend them!), and I just got it today.

Hooked it up directly in place of the first unit, same physical cabling, and I still see the issue.

I'm trying to run a sanity check here. Never noticed anything like this before on any of my other Tivo-based units, and of course the R15 is brand new. Has anyone else seen this sort of issue, or have any suggestion for me?

Thanks,

I'm sorry, I don't have have any suggestions for you. But I can tell you that I don't notice this problem on the TV I currently have my R15 connected to.

How long ago was it? Do you still have the other units? Have you tried re-hooking them back up?

R15 problems were within last 2 days. Both of the TVs I am using have been in use with other units; one TV was with a Hughes DirecTV receiver (non-DVR) and one was with, I think, my R10 unit.

I'm having a hard time thinking both TVs are out of whack in exactly the same way, seems like it would be a strange co-incidence. I've posted this topic on the DirecTV Tech Support forum. I would have submitted the question direct to their Tech Suppt department but I couldn't see an apparant way to do so.

What cable methods did you use for connecting it to the TV? I don't see any picture problems at all with mine. Also do you see these same issues if you pull the Sat lines to the box when you have the menu's up?

I don't have your exact problem, but I the R15 picture is skewed a bit to the left so that the first letter in the menus is cut off. Connection is by svideo to 27" CRT. Older TV, so no option in TV menus to adjust picture location.
