Anybody know when D* will implement the HD local channels in the Philly area?

This month I think. Remember you need the MPEG4 equipment to receive those channels.

Do you know if they send a notice or anything? I haven't heard anything and it's nearly impossible to get a human to answer their customer service line.

Are the dishes for sale as carryout items as well as the receivers?

I'm getting my 5LNB Dish installed Tuesday. How do I get the $200 rebate for the H20?

Are they going to do an even swap for our current HD receivers? Or are we going to have to buy new ones again :nono2: ? I am using 4 HD receivers and one HD Tivo, this could be very expensive :eek2: .

Here's a tip. Yes DIRECTV has begun requiring HD customers who are upgrading to the MPEG-2/4 system to turn in their existing MPEG-2 HD STB, just say no and buy your H20 from any authorized local or on-line authorized dealer, take your $200 rebate and just have DIRECTV upgrade your dish and switch. Upgrade this way and keep you existing HD STB.

What good is the existing box with MPEG4 compression?

I was wondering the same thing, why would I want to keep the old boxes?

Over the air reception is why I'd want to keep mine.

The new boxes do have a tuner in them right? So, I just don't see the need to keep them. However, others are saying that they are able to keep them when upgraded anyway, so this might be a moot point.

This option is good for 1 receiver. In the Bay area, they want to charge $100 per a H10 receiver swap  .

1. The more (up to 5 max.) HD receivers that are active on your account the more DIRECTV will upgrade for free.

2. Great back-up spare just in case your MPEG-2/4 HD receiver goes down, or if you add another HDTV.

3. See it on eBay.

4. Use the ATSC tuner for HD OTA.

One sure beats Zero and many folks only have one HDTV anyway.

Might is not a moot point if it turns into giving up your beloved HD receiver.
