View Full Version : R15 or multiswitch?
Installer set up my R15 yesterday, multiswitch to it and my DTV/Tivo box. All seemed good but as it was being activated (Which took second tier tech. service to get right) I began getting flases on screen of "searching for signal Tuner 2". Changed some channels, it came and went. Went out and removed my DTV/TIVO connections and it cleared up. Connected all back up and it appeared fine until I tried the "Active" content then it popped up again. I ran the signal test and on tuner 2 it showed "0" on every other transponder. 95 on the others and 95 on all tuner 1 transponders. I then ran the system test and it showed a "fail" on LNB output. Obviously something is not right, I suspect the multiswitch but before I call DTV I thought I'd let you all take a shot at what it might be.

I too had some thing like happen.
I intalled my R15 and multiswitch. The next day my wife wants to rearrange the room so I had to take down and rehook my entire home theater.
When I brought it back up, I had nothing on reciever two. I fiddled with it for a while, became a little flustered, and finally chose restart in the settings menu. All of my settings were kept but, bingo, I had tuner two back.
I don't know if this will help, it when you mentioned tuner 2 gone after having some wiring unhooked, a light bulb went off in my head.
Hope this helps and good luck.
I've reset the box, unplugged it for 5 minutes, switched all the cables, (which can move it from Tuner 1 to 2) nothing clears it up. DTV agreed it appears to be the switch and will call me with a repair date. Thank goodness I've got my other box. I'm guessing that the shorter run to the Tivo (15ft) box is getting enough voltage to make the switches work while the 55ft to the R15 isn't making it. I'll leave it to the installer to figure out.
Thanks for the suggestion though.
It wasn't the switch. The installer found a short in the connector he put on the receiver end. Problem fixed!
