Hello Everyone,

I am going to be getting Directv service after being with Dish Network for over 5 years. In the Dish Network world, we get charge $4.99 for our local channels (SD). I don't believe Directv charges for SD Local Channels, or at least I couldn't find any info about it in their Website.

I am going to be getting the H20 receiver since my city is scheduled to receive HD local channels next month. Question, am I going to have to subscribe to the HD package in order to get my local channels in HD? $10.99 for 5 HD channels doesn't sound like a good deal to me, however if that includes the HD Local channels, then I will definitely get it, though If I can get HD local channels without the package, then it'd be even better.

Thanks,

Victor

DirecTV technically charges $3 for local channels, but it's included in the price for their base packages (Total Choice, Total Choice Plus, and Total Choice Premiere). As for HD Locals, they will be at no additional charge when they become available in your market, but you can just attatch an antenna to the reciever and pick up what's available in your area over the air.

KyL416,

Thanks for your reply. I guess I won't be getting the HD package after all :) though I believe I'll get it for free for the next 3 months once I sign up a 1 year agreement.

And by the time those 2 years are up, DirecTV will supposidly have 180 or so National HD Channels.
