Hello All. I'm in the market for a DVD recorder for basic home use with my 508. I'm looking to dump DVR recordings & dub some old VHS tapes that are worth saving (aka wedding videos :nono2:). I've been reading a ton of reviews and could use some informed feedback from fellow E* users before making a purchase.

Basically, it seems that most of the newer decks have HDD's built-in & program guides to compete with Tivo & DVR decks. Obviously, I have no use for either. If any of you have experience & recommendations for a unit, I would greatly appreciate it.

Happy Thanksgiving to all!!

You'll prbably want hte HDD. If you get a Pioneer with a HDD, you can do basic editing, like taking out commercials, and topping and tailing, before you save to disc. The Pioneers seem to be the way to go. They always seem to get really good reviews. Checkout the 531H. I believe it can also do dual layer DVDs, too, which are a plus.
