My HDVR2 appears to have lost it's second tuner. I have a 3 LNB dish and tuner 2 does not get a signal on any even numbered transponders. Odds work fine. Tuner 1 works fine. Flipped SAT feeds, problem remains with tuner 2. Tried power down, no difference.
I'm guessing it's just gone bad but wanted to see if anyone had suggestions on something else I can try. I have not tried a CLEAR todo list but I cannot see how any of the CLEAR options would change this.
Thanks.

I had a similar problem back in May, and again for the last 3 weeks. Repair fellow came today......oh, and the problem was intermittent---and he checked the cables out at the dish and 3 of the 4 were corroded so he put new connectors on, and replaced the LNB. At first he was trying to say it was a line of sight problem, and I was half asleep enough to not point out to him that 3 receivers got the signal just fine. When I did think to tell him, he said..."well, I guess it is NOT a line of sight problem". There is no way I could have that type of problem---I have had DTV for 5 years, and after Ivan and Dennis, and the whisper of 70 MPH winds when Katrina went by---there are many, many less trees and branches than there were back then!!!!!
So, check your cables out at the dish......I have the protection plan, so am lucky. Best of luck. I know how annoying this is! With me, it was my locals that would disappear!

Dish and cables were installed Sept 26th. Out here in AZ it's rained once since then.
Plus, my other 3 DTivos and 2 non-dvr units work fine. Swapped cable feeds, problem was still on tuner 2. I view this as a HDVR2 problem, but cabling to dish or multiswitch problems.
I was just hoping for some other solution that I truly know does not exist.

I am sitting here by the kitchen window at the computer, and just as I finished reading your post, and the part about living in Arizona and no rain, I saw a flash of lightning outside the window, and there is now a faint rumble of thunder, rofl.
In my case, the problem followed the cable, which made it fairly clear that the problem was related to the dish connections.
I was a bit annoyed with this kid......it started by him asking me why I had to have two units!!!!! Then the line of sight. And the pins poked in different areas of his face didn't do much for my stomach, rofl. However, he was polite, and did what I told him to do (check the cables at the dish). If I don't loose my locals again for a few months then I will know he fixed the problem.
Of course I could change the connections myself, but since I am paying for the protection program I let them do it.
Hope you get your problem solved. I would suggest calling DTV and having them send you another unit.

Two units, my question would be how can you live with ONLY two?
I'll have to start searching for a replacement, oh well.
Hey, enjoy the rain when you get it. We could really use some. Windy today which is really kicking up some dust.

Hi,
My first post,I have the same problem with losing my second tuner when the power goes off. What works for me is to go to my HD ota channels, choose one from the menu and then try the other tuner. Hope this works for you!

I just got a couple of R10's free but those take actual hardware mods to get all of the features working that my HDVR2 currently provides. I'm working on getting the R10's freed up but not quite there yet.
Thinking about grabing a stock of Series 2 DTivos just for parts.

Alas, not HD and no OTA tuner at all.
