I am in the process of installing an R-15. I'm going through the satellite setup and got the following message:
The recorder has detected an error while confirming satellite dish setup"
- Your dish type is set to oval, 3 LNBs, but the recorder detected 3 satellites.
Please fix This error to ensure that you receive all channels properly. See your satellite dish manual for assistance.
Repeat Satellite Setup
Test Signal Strength
Continue, Fix Later
I'm confused. Shouldn't the receiver detect 3 satellites if there are 3 LNBs?

uh, yeah. That is weird. Do you have a cable hooked to both inputs? I'd just select repeat and see what happens.

I'm only using 1 input. I selected "Continue, Fix Later" am waiting on hold for DirecTV to activate it.

WHich dish do you have exactly? If you have a newer Phase III, I think you have it set wrong...

The dish I have isn't new... it's about 4 years old. It's just a standard 3 LNB. I have the receiver activated now and everything seems fine... just random weirdness I guess.

OK... here's some more random weirdness:
I only have one input active in my R15, but I noticed something interesting. I have it set up to record something on channel 386 every day. It's the only recording I have scheduled. When I turn on the system, it's parked on Sci-Fi, which is the last channel I manually tuned in to. It looks like the R15 reverts back to the last channel tuned, rather than the last channel it recorded from. It's not a good thing or a bad thing. It's just weird.

Every reciever I have ever had worked that way....whether it was a DVR or a regualr receiver with timers...

I guess TiVo is the exception to that rule. It always stays on the last channel recorded.

Hmm, interesting. I don't care one way or the other since I never watch live TV, but I know this has annoyed some TiVo users for a long time.

I never heard of it annoying anyone. It's just the way it is. Up until this week the only DVRs I've ever had have been TiVo's, so I assumed all DVRs were like that. It's a non issue either way, it just struck me as odd.

Oh, everything annoys someone ;)
