hey there...
I read the review on that Other site and i can't seem to find an answer to this question.. Can you watch two shows at once? I have the Directivo right now, and you are able to pause one program and press the down arrow and switch to the other tuner with out losing the pause on the other tuner... does this make sense?
If there is no easy way to do this that would keep me from purchasing the new dvr... anyway i can't wait to see ur answers... thanks!

Right now there is no "Dual Live Buffer" functionality in the R15, though it is rumored to be added in a software update sometime next year.
I believe you can work around this problem by recording both live shows, and then using the "prev" button to toggle between the two. Once the shows are recording, you can access the programs via MyVOD.

That is one of the major shortcommings of the R15 right now
(See... I can be critical of the product... :) )

Maybe I just got lucky but I had a program I had recorded, paused it, flipped over to the live feed, paused it, went back to recorded program, then back to live and it was still paused. Oh BTW I didn't do it on purpose hit a series of wrong keys lol.
I read elsewhere that you can "buffer" when you go between LIVE and Recorded. I would say that fix would/should be high on their list. It is ours!

There are a few tricks to "kinda" get to work like the dual live buffers, but it just isn't the same where you could Pause the first tuner, hit a single button, be on the other... Pause it, hit a single button, go back to the other....
And doing this while not actually "recording" anything.

well thast just annoying... i hope they come out with a firmware update so you can just press a button and switch between two live programs that aren't being recorded...

Current rumor is that in the first major feature update release near the end of Q1 2006, we may see this. But again, that is subject to change... until we see a post from DirecTV

What does your rumor source say about the next major bug fix update?
Oh, and also, what is your rumor source??? Something we can read elsewhere?
You joined this forum on Nov 15th and you have some source that we should pay attention to?
No disrespect meant here, it's that you mentioned a specific timeframe of when DTV "might" be releasing a "feature update" based on rumors you heard/read.
Bottom line, put up or shut up on your rumors. Please provide a source.

Near the end of Q1 2006? It coincides with Tivo/Dish trial restart in March 2006. And again the NDS release date in mid Nov 05 followed the original Tivo/Dish patent trial timeing at the end of Oct 05. I wonder if this buffer update is patent related.

Earl is the one that did some nice work reviewing the R10 and the R15 over at the Tivo community forum. I trust him.

So am I wrong asking for a source on his rumors? Does writing a review automatically generate trust for the reviewer?
I could sit here any spew forth all sorts of rumors and reviews, but if I have no backup or source for those, my words don't mean squat.

Sorry...
Quoting from Spaceballs.... "You've Heard of Me?" guess not...
Anyway....I was a transfer from TivoCommunity.com (you can see my record over there, and decided for your self about my "trust" level)... started coming here when they kicked the R15 discussion off that forum.. (hence why the recent start date and low post count)
As for the source... Robert (DTV Dealer on most of the forum boards) with ValueElectronics. He has his own reputation, depending on how you want to read into it.. .but in the nearly 3 years I have known him, and communicated with him... most of his facts have panned out.
I trust him as well.. He is a high profile vendor of DirecTV equipment and does have some inside contacts that we will never see.
I still state it as a rumor, as until it is officially posted by DirecTV... everything is rumor.
The date range is the estimate time frame he was given by the people at DirecTV (so we are 3rd level in the "rumor" train), but as we all know.... in development, dates are targets not deadlines :)
Mods... any chance I can get my post count carried over from TivoCommunity? (Just kidding)... I will just to have to start posting a LOT more to catch up.... :D
And to everyone else: Wolf's question was a fair one... He doesn't know me, and I don't know him... For all he knows, I could be a noob posting crazy stuff.

ebonovic,
I do appolgize. I checked you out on TivoComm and your trust factor with me is consideraby higher.
I've been a member "over there" since 2003 but haven't spent much time there. And yes, I was concerned about someone "spouting" something they knew nothing about.
I have seem Robert's posts. I know what you're referring to there.
Rumor is rumor. But now knowing you, and the source, I give it much more credience.
No offense intended.
May the Swartz be wih you!!!
