Direct HD Question

I recently got a waiver from my local NBC so I can get the HD feed of NBC NY. I faxed it to Directv and they said they had to wait for a waiver from NBC in NY. I waited and after about 34 days, they turned on the NBC NY feed (382) but not the HD Feed (82). I called Directv and they said they had to get a separate waiver for the HD feed to be turned on. Is this true? I thought if I lived in a market which is an O&O station (Hartford/New Haven) that it would be turned on automatically when I received the distant feed.

Can someone tell me if this Directv person gave me the correct info or should I contact someone else?

That is correct, the FCC requires different waivers for SD versions of stations and HD versions.
