View Full Version : Changing Remote Address
Not sure how this happened (I think it was associated with power plug reboot), but the remote control address some how was changed in my 921 receiver and is now different from the one in the remote (changed from 7 to 1 in receiver, while still 7 in remote). The remote control is of course inoperative. I have made repeated attempts (using the 921 owners manual directions) to reset the address but cannot get it to work (despite being able to do the same thing with my 510 remote). Any suggestions before I must go to the last chance frustrating call to Dish? :(

Did you try setting the remote back to address 1?
Yes, tried setting the remote address back to 1 via the 921 receiver to no avail.
I finally broke down and called Dish -- got a very quick response by the way. They had me do a few 921 resets which did not fix the problem, and then had me reset the 921 remote control address via my 510 -- did not think of that but it worked. That somehow restored the ability to reset the address of the remote via the 921 receiver, but alas, the remote still did not function even though the address now matched the sysinfo screen remote address. They finally declared the 921 remote dead and will ship a new one under warranty at no cost. Overall it was a positive experience with Dish.
Fortunately I normally operate the A/V system with my Harmony 659 so no problem waiting for the new remote.
