So I just received my new 942 to replace my horrible 921. Part of the reason is to actually have one work more then 20% of the time. The wife was convinced to let me upgrade and so far it's not going to good.

I haven't rebooted yet, but probably will before I get any replies. Here's what has happened, I checked the bug reports and haven't seen this.

942 on a old 500twin and 61.5 with two SW21's. Single user mode. I was watching Modern Marvels and decided to record it so I could play around with some other channels. I hit record and chose record entire event. I then watched it for about 20 minutes and paused the unit. Started watching again about 5 minutes later.

I wanted to check how switching channels during a record worked and hit channel down. Got the 'switch to live mode' question and hit yes. At that point, audio was still Modern Marvels, but the banner was the next channel down and I had no video.

At this point I could change to any channel (manually or through the guide), but I would still have ch120 audio with no video. Guide showed 120 was recording on TV2. So with blank video I hit the PIP button and ch120 popped up in the window (I still had ch120 audio). I hit the swap button and got ch120 audio/video with a blank PIP window.

I tried PIP, swap, and could repeat the process (always had ch120 audio, blank video and ch120 video could be swapped). I went into a previous recorded show and got the same thing(blank video). When I returned to the DVR list, I had 4 recordings of Modern Marvels, one for 26 minutes (start to the time I stated playing around) and three for 0 seconds to 20 seconds. The three seem to be everytime I hit swap??

I stopped the recording and was then able to change channels as normal, but now PIP is not coming up at all. SWAP just flashes the INFO banner.

I'm about to reboot it, but if anyone has any thoughts for the future let me know.

Thanks,

Kevin D.

Kevin D, Welcome to the 942 forum! :welcome_s

When my unit first took the latest software, L282, I had something similar happen while playing with the PIP feature. After rebooting my unit, I haven't had it happen again. Can you verify what software version is on your unit? Did the reboot help? Have you done a check switch to verify your install?

Yeah, sounds like you might still have an old software version. Hopefully taking the latest download and a reboot will fix your problem!

It's at 282, check-switch worked fine at first install. I just modified my locals (deleting analogs that don't come in well and added some since I moved the rotor) and it's not saving anything. I added one analog and it shows up in the local channel setup, but I can't tune to it and it's not in the guide. The three I delete never get deleted. Is this a known bug??

So far a reboot has fixed the PIP problem, and several things recorded today and I never had an issue.

Thanks,

Kevin D.

I'm not sure this will help but check that "Sat Locals" is disabled. (I've seen a reported bug where "Sat Locals" causes a problem with OTA.) Also, with analog locals, make sure you enter a name or call letters before saving the channel.

Sat locals was disabled. Settings it to enabled allowed me to delete the unused channels and rename the others. But...

Once I did that, I had the I was missing what I wanted and the channel I added (22), but then in the guide I had my edited list, then another ch22 plus everything above 22 again (the one I left (25) and the 3 I had deleted). Setting sat locals back to disabled got everything back to the way it should be... weird.

Glad it worked.
