I wonder if weaknees will make any upgrade solution public knowledge or if they will keep it private...

I have been told, and have read that the INTERNAL hard drive in the unit is pretty locked down. Pretty much making it un-upgradeable. It was designed that way for a bunch of obvious reasons... but reading between the lines, there may be some other reasons too.
Especially if the VOD aspects of the unit turn out... They woudn't want it to be easy for people to access pushed content (for example the NBC or is it CBS replays)
But that we may possible see an external USB upgrade option.. but until it is formally posted on DirecTV.com... or is available for purchase, it is just a solid rumor.

VOD will be for NBC programs, and possibly CBS shows as well
This seems to make sense, as it is possible to record PPV shows and pay only during the watch time the disk must be secure. Also, the unit has two USB ports.
