I signed up for a lifetime sub. to Tivo over 3 years ago so i am ahead on that one, but I am about to install a new HR-10 and was wondering with the upgrade coming so soon if it was worth it this time?

I dont believe you can get a lifetime Tivo sub from D* anymore on their units....its strictly monthly now...

When DirecTV took over the administration of TiVos they moved lifetime to the account. We are talking about a DirecTV DVR/TiVo, right? So theoretically, adding another DVR to your account should be covered.

AFAIK, lifetime Tivo subs are married to the receivers.....if that receiver dies, your lifetime sub dies with it....

Not to sound mean , But this statement is wrong, I have a lifetime with my Tivo and I have gotten rid of my 1st series tivo and replaced it with an HD Tivo and it was transfered to that one and I still have my lifetime and was told that I would always have it even if I got one of the R15 D receivers.:)

100% WRONG - you are thinking of standalone units. But it is true you cannot get lifetime anymore from D*.
As jd said, the lifetime Tivo fee f/D-Tivo's was transfered to the account & NOT the unit - you can add/change/delete units on an account w/lifetime & it will NOT alter your lifetime status. As long as you keep the same account, you should never loose it. Matter of fact, if I was crazy enough to want an R15, the lifetime DVR fee would apply to it as well.
I have it & have changed receivers multiple times & have NEVER had a problem with this.
