I just installed a new HD DVR (HR10-250) with a triple LNB (one piece) oval dish. My problem is this, I can view channel 70 and 71 in HD but no others. 72-79 come in all jumbled and freeze framed (sorry that's the best description I can come up with) I did my satellite system test and A and C on Satllite in 1 & 2 report "ok" however B states "right side not connected". I called DTV HD Tech support with no luck. They want to send someone out. I also did the auto signal setup form the menu. I still cannot view certain HD channels. The reciever works fine at a friends house. I have no obstruction in the way, possible bad LNB or switch? Help, and thanks!

If it works at your friends house, I would say you're down to dish alignment, LNB, switch or cable.

But thanks for the head's up. DTV is coming out tomorrow with my HR10-250 so I'l make sure we have all HD channels tested before I let him leave.

Wolffpack, when I had my first HR10-250 installed, the guy checked two satellites but not third, which was not working properly. Luckily I had his cell # and got in touch with him before he was a mile away - he came back and fixed it quickly (and correctly). An alignment issue he was able to easily tweak. So making sure he checks all of it is definitely a good idea.

Good luck! I love my two HR10-250s! Have fun.

JLuc-
when you had your problem was it not able to pull HD, like I mentioned above? I hope its just an alingnment issue but just in case i bought a NEW triple LNB on Ebay for $14. Anyone got a 25' extension ladder now! Go VIKES!

jdknocks,

I found the problem while reviewing signal strengths right after he left. I didn't even go to the point of viewing the picture, checking different channels, etc. I was only using the signal strength testing screens. Sorry.

Since the receiver works, sats A&C work, and the left polarity of B works, we know that the alignment is very likely nominally good enough. (Without signal strength readings it's hard to be sure, but things sound ok.)

When you miss right polarity of B, that means that one of the cables from the switch to the LNBs or to the dish is bad; the switch is bad; or the B LNB is bad.

So now, do you have a switch inside your house or just the integrated one on the dish? That will let us know where to check next.

Merry Christmas!
Tom

Thanks Tom!!

Signal strength all seemms good, in the upper 90's. The only switch I am using is the integrated one on the dish. I can see closely that 4 wires are going to the switch but cant tell if all are actually hooked up until I get a ladder and a little courage to climb! I'm still very confused why HD channel 70 and 71 come in but the other's do not?? It's sounding more and more like a bad LNB assembly to me. I have one ordered snd should see it mid next week. Thanks again, and Merry Christmas!
