Just got off the phone with Dish Network. I was looking at the various deals on eBay for receivers to upgrade my system. When I asked about activating a 322 purchased on eBay, they said Dish will NOT activate any 322 receiver except for a leased one. The ads on eBay indicate these are brand new factory sealed items. Dish still said no way.
Has anyone had issues activating receivers purchased on eBay? Is there something about the 322 thats an issue? The 625 I just purchased on eBay is OK for activation.

I had purchased a 322 receiver on EBAY and initally had a problem with Dish Network in regards to activation. Since they do not sell these units to the general public as of right now, they tend to be resistant to activiation. Prior to the purchase of the 322 receiver, I had four TV's hooked up but needed a fifth one to be added which gave me reason to go via EBAY for the purchase. Once new 322 was received, I called Dish and explained my intentions and specified that the 322 unit was new and was purchased seperately from their company. I waited about five minutes on hold and then was told that I would be able to activate as long as they received the single tuner model back. Please note that I had an 811, one 322 and a 511 box (if I am correct) and they unfortunately de-activated their box after they turned on my 322. Another phone call and explanation and all was fine after that. Ask to speak to the tech department, supervisor or manager. I was also told by Dish Network at the time of the initial order that there would be no problems even though there was and I used this statement in my arguement. Unfortunately, the box that I purchased from EBAY was a 322 unit with older version software and would not work. Dish came to the house and switched unit without any issue - I did have a installer that was cool about the issue and took care of the situation. If you already have a 322 unit, check software version and compare it with the one that you are interested in via EBAY so that you do not have the same issue as I did. Be firm with Dish in regards to their resistance and you will come out ahead. You need a splitter for the new 322 (not included with 322, had to purchase one on EBAY). Good luck

Just a clarification, never use a splitter in a DBS installation! (I know they can be used in rare instances) What the poster refers to is a DishPro Plus seperator, and that has to be used with a DishPro Plus Twin LNBF, or a DishPro Plus 44 Switch.

Dish has allowed retailers to sell the 322 since early summer late spring. There should be no issue with activating a 322. You had a CSR that was not up to date.

All good information and I really appreciate the feedback. I kind of got the impression that the guy I talked to was yanking my chain. I originally called to check the R00 and S00 on a 625 I just received from ebay. I mentioned that I wanted to replace my existing 4900 with a 322 so I have a total of 4 TVs covered. I also see that Dish's site indicates that the 322 is available for purchase.
Thanks again.
