I have super dish for 105 110 and 119 in the back of the house, an old dish 500 from my old setup on the side of the house. The super dish has a 34 switch going to two 842s. I'd like to be able to point the dish 500 at 61.5 for voom, i have several old 21 switches from the dish 500. What equipment do I need to connect the dish 500 to the 34 switch for the super dish? I have read some threads but still am not sure what I need, if anything. I noticed that there is a lnb input on the super dish's lnb, can this be used to connect the 500 to the system?

Thanks,
Chris

Since the superdishes have DP34, you would need to get a DP+44 and a DP DUal for the Dish500. Check out this:

SW21s will NOT work with DP. Also, since you have 2 942s, the DP21s are NOT practical due to needing 4 and splitting the DPDual on the 61.5. Cheaper to get the DP+44, and that will allow using seperators for the 942s and give you 2 more ports for later.

I have read that material and called dish network this morning. I asked about the price and I was told $59.95 to add the 61.5 dish. I looked at the prices of doing this myself and the dp 44 switch was $100 from ebay, then I would have to buy the dp lnb for the dish 500. I am wondering how dish is able to do this for $60, when it would cost me well over $100. Any ideas, I would like to be able to do this myself and just want to be sure that I actually need all that equipment. The low price of the dish install has made me wonder even more.

My money is on the fact that the CSR did not realise that you needed a DP44+ and didn't factor it into the price. They are just talking about the cost for just physically adding the satellite and pointng at 61.5 (Which I thought was $100, not $60 as a standard fee). Did they say specifically you were getting the DP44+?

No the csr did not say, but she did know that I already had a super dish.

Ya, but that doesn't mean anything. Many times CSR's make mistakes like that becuase they are not trained for the technical aspect of what you actually want, just how to do deal with the computers and sign people up. Your best bet is to contact a local installer who is registered with Echostar and see what they say it is going to cost. The price should work out in the end...

Are you watching your locals from your E* programming, or using an antenna? You can swap a line from your superdish for a 61.5 line, If you don't care about the locals.

No, I've got to have the 105 for the locals, can get any from ota because they are 115 + miles away.

Would a legacy lnb work with the dp 44?

No, a legacy will not work with that switch. If you need a better deal than ebay, pm me and I can get you out a dp dual and dpp44 ASAP. Or maybe check the Buy/sale/trade section. And yes, you will need a dpp44 to run all 4 inputs. If you only hook to one input with a dp21, you will fail the dual tuner switch test.

I just checked out my super dish and it is a dish pro, no plus was on it. I also just bought a dp 44 switch. Will the dp 44 work with the dish pro super dish? Do I need a dish pro lnb or a dish pro plus lnb for the 61.5? I have read the information listed on the page above but don't completely understand it.

One more question from someone else. Will a legacy receiver work with a super dish with a dp 34 switch? It is a Dish player PVR webtv thing about 5 years old, will dish network charge $5 or $10 per month for the pvr feature. It is an old receiver of mine from an old account, they charged $10 per month which was back in august.

jcm.oo, the DPP44 (the 2nd P is for Plus, there is no DP44) must be fed by DishPro LNBs. Those can be the separate ones on a SuperDISH or single sat wing dish, the DP Twin or DPP Twin on a Dish500. There are no DPP LNBs, you're looking for a DP Dual (or DP Single) but you can also use the 119 side of a DP Twin (details are near the bottom of the article linked in post #2). I don't know if a DPP Twin can be used for a single satellite feed to the DPP44.

Connecting the DISHPlayer or any other legacy receiver to a DP34 requires a $69 DP adapter. You can hook one up to the DPP44 without the adapter. Legacy receivers will see either switch as an SW64. The 7100/7200 will not recognize the FSS slots (105 and 121) so, since it only sees inputs 1-3 of the DPP44, connect 105 to input 4.

Thanks for the info. Makes a lot more sense now!
