I got my R15 a couple of days before Christmas and have played with it for a few days and now heres my take on it.

I currently have 2 SD HDVR2's and 1 H10-250 HD DVR,
Ive had Tivo for about 3yrs, so Im use to tivo.

I like the new R15 DVR +, I like the look of the graphics. after a few years of the tivo , its nice to have change.
I like the ACTIVE application on the unit, its nice to have the weather.
I like the disk space bar.
I like the fact that I can go in the menus and the guide while watching a recored show and still have the recorded show playing in the window, and also can pause, FF,RRwhile in the menus.
I like that when I change the channel the time bar does not appear at the bottom of the screen.
I like the one touch record and the two touch season record. Its alot quicker and easier to set up recordings.
I like the mark and delete function.
I like the fact that I can now have 2 fav channel list.
I like that I can be playing a show from playlist, I can then hit list choose another recorded show and watch, then I can hit previous ch and it will go back to the other show I was playing from the list.
Also if Im watching a recorded show, and I choose a recorded show, I can watch the recorded show then I can hit previous ch and watch live tv, then I can hit previous and continue with the recorded show.

Things that I think that DVR+ needs and needs fixing.

Series link repeat recording problems.
Toggle between 2 tuners.
Away to see whats on the other tuner.
A slow motion button, besides holding play for a few seconds.

A FW overscan jump back like the one on tivo., Ive found if you hit FF2 and once you get past the commercial, hit the reverse jump back and it works perfect, just like the tivo FF overscan.

My overall grade is a B+
Fix the series link record issues and it will be good.

I like the new DVR, alot of neat functions just got to learn them all, the manual does not have alot of the functions in it, that is the worst manual that Ive seen, very basic info.
The box it self seems to be alot better built. Looks better.

Oh yes forgot...
10-15 minute tick marks, show you can FF/RR and skip to each tick like tivo.

I like the new R15 unit as well. It seems much better than the Tivo in my opinion. Is there a way to make the button forward 20-30 seconds rather than going to the end of the show/current program?? I like how dish network's are with the instant replays and commerical skip ahead.

I cant find one, I do see the tick marks on the bar , but can't figure out away to skip to them.

the FF then <skip back button works great on FF overscan. Have not tried it on any other speed than FF2.

"Ive use tivo also and I love the R15. Im glad to see D* dumped tivo. "

TIVO is a good product and no one posting here, or elsewhere knows what transpired between TIVO and DTV. As with most "breakups/divorce's" both parties are likely to be at blame.

The R15 is a good box as is Dtivo, they are different just as is what people use them for. Both have good points and bad.

They both are good box's. And just like everyone trashing the R15 i als have an opinion and i like the R15. The Tivo to me is cartoonish. I dont know and dont care why D* dumped tivo im just glad they did so they can come out with the R15.

I've been a Tivo fanboy for years but I need to give the R15 solid grades so far. I've only had it for 4 days but I had most of the differences figured out in a half hour. Small learning curve is nice. Now I have my standalone Tivo in "my" den downstairs attached via the IR blaster ( :( ) for sports and the R15 is in the family/play room for everything else.

Early grade is a solid B+. My Tivo was always an A. I need more than 4 days of tinkering but it looks promising.
