I'm new to the satellite world and am looking for some advice. I'm thinking of getting the Dish Network promotion where they have the 4-room package with 3 month free Prem. Channels and free DVR and installation with a 18 month contract. My question is if it is possible for me to start with the 4 room package (2 625 receivers) and then, 3 or 4 months down the line, downgrade to a 2 room package (returning one of the 625 DVR's).

You'd think this should be an easy question to ask when calling Dish Network.

Not so. I've spoken to half a dozen new account managers, and they're about split on whether doing a downgrade is possible or not. Funny, they also always sorry for the other agents for giving me the wrong info.

Anyone know the definitive answer? Anyone know how I can get that in writing? I want the 4 room package, but I only want it for a couple of months. Once my "long-term guests" leave, I want to stop paying for the extra equipment.

Actually, if you're using two dual tuner receivers, you're only out an extra $5/mo... Turn them both into PIP units and then you've got two fully active PIP receivers, but still paying the $5.

The contract is that you are a DISH subscriber, so you can add/remove outlets whenever you feel like doing it. Go ahead and let the guests enjoy tv, then call DISH and deactivate the equipment.

I don't think you will have to send it back, because you are still a subscriber and can always reactivate them later.
