I have searched the forum and read so much that I am now more confused then when I started.

Anyway, I have a Dish500 twin LNB. I am wanting to add receivers, so my question is can I use a DP34 switch with the twin LNB?

I have found threads indicating yes and no? If not a DP34 what is my next best option for adding receivers (I currently have two installed)?

Shawn

PS. Mega ultra super thanks to the providers of the board and those of you that make this board great! As a newbie, I was really happy to have discovered it. :)

The answer is, it depends.
If your Twin LNB is one of the newer DishPRO models (with a DP logo on it) it will work with a DP34 and give you the ability to have up to four receivers. If it doesn't have the DP logo your best bet is to replace it with a DP Twin LNB.

If it's not a DP you have, you could also swap out for a DP quad to gain 2 additional outputs without shelling ooutcash for a dp-twin and a dp-34.

Thanks for the speedy replies guys (and the warm welcome).

I believe I have the older variety LNB? I'll have to find a DP logo to check. I was going to post pictures of my LNBF and ask for help to validate, but I see I need to post a few more times before I can paste a URL here. When I google DishPro Logo a couple of images appear, one matches, most do not match.

Anyway, I'm grateful for the help.

Shawn you don't post what you have for receivers. If you have Legacy models 4digits (3900,4900 etc) you can't use DP LNBs without a $70 adapter on each receiver. If you have DP receivers 3 digits (301,510 etc) they work with either DP or Legacy electronics.

The legacy Twin (no dp logo) will feed only 2 tuners, there is no way to add more. If you don't anticipate adding a 3rd satellite feed, go with bigrick's advice and get a legacy or DP Quad, depending on what receivers you have.

Only one of the newer DishPro models of the Twin can be used with a DP34 -- that is the DP Twin. The DP34 can not be used in any combination with the DP Plus Twin.

Thought the receiver displays which model LNB is in use?

Menu/6/1/1/Check Switch will display the installed switch model. A 500 Twin is a legacy and a DP Twin is of course a DP.

Shawn, Here is a couple of pictures for reference. These are Duals, not Twins, but Legacy verses DP the logos would be pretty much the same.
