I just read an article that included comments from Eddie Fritts, the head of the NAB. He mentioned that over 83% of the channels in the top 100 markets would pass the networks HD digital signals on. Am i missing something, wasn't that supposed to be 100% of the 211 markets, or lose the digital spectrum?

I think that, under the letter of the law, local broadcasters are only required to have a digital signal on the air. AFAIK there is no legal requirement at this time to transmit anything in HD. SD rebroadcast of analog meets the FCC criteria. Passing through the networks HD content was part of Comissioner Powell's suggested timetable but is not legally binding.

The deadline for all commercial stations to broadcast digital was May 2, 2002. Out of sone 1200 stations, today, there are 431 broadcasting digital. Do you think that any message put out by the NAB is anything other than unadultrated cow pucky?

Of course, one must remember that not all digital signals are HD...
