View Full Version : 3 LNB vs 5 LNB on new Install

I apologize if this is a redundant question. I've done several searches and have seen conflicting information.

I currently have a 3 LNB dish with a standard receiver and a HR10-250. We get local HD channels OTA. We're moving to a new house and will be keeping the HR10-250 since the HR20-250 is a ways out (I'll also likely be purchasing H20s for other rooms).

The main question is if the 5 LNB dish will be compatible with the HR10-250? Will I still be able to get the MPEG2 channels that were on the previous 3 LNB dish? I realize I won't be able to see any of the MPEG4 channels on the HR10-250, but that's not important as I can still get local HD OTA.

If the HR10-250 can't see any of the current MPEG2 channels on the 5 LNB, I guess I will install a 3 LNB and wait until the HR20-250 is out.

TIA for any advice.

The HR10-250 works with a 5LNB dish exactly like it works with the 3LNB dish.

Thanks. So it sounds like the 5LNB is what should be installed. I can view existing OTA and MPEG2 channels on the HR10-250 and then can view any new MPEG4 channels on H20.

I'm also assuming that the H20 can view both MPEG2 and MPEG4 channels.

Please let me know if any of this is incorrec.t

Thanks again.
