"...the most impressive video offering the Web has ever seen"From PCMag: CNN Pipeline -- at last, live television on the WWW
You may have streamed the NBC Nightly News to your Web browser. You may have watched the Video Music Awards at MTV.com. But you've never seen Internet television quite like this. Yesterday marked the official debut of CNN Pipeline, a 24-hour, commercial-free online television station broadcasting from its ...and that only begins to describe this breathtaking new service. It streams not one, but four live video feeds straight to your desktop.
http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,1759,1896413,00.aspI recently subbed to the $2.95 monthly plan, with a 14-day free trial period. So far, I like the service, and I give Pipeline a plus for providing four live channels, or "pipes" from which to select. In addition, Pipeline provides VOD feeds of recent stories. CNN/Pipeline has its own news team and the reportage is on par with that of live television news, except that the coverage seems to be a bit more 'in-depth' than the typical live news story.
I have no problem watching the sharp 16:9 aspect-ratio image which, on my monitor looks to be about 5.5" x 3.25". As a user tip, double-clicking on the active video window will enlarge the image to fill the width of your pc monitor's screen, but even at my hi-speed connection, full-screen resolution, while better than any I've seen yet and as good as my 17" LCD desk tv, still suffers from some degradation of image quality. Audio quality is exceptional as played through my media room's kick-ass audio system. :)
If you're a news junkie and you like to direct as I do, give CNN/Pipeline a try with a free two-week trial.
