View Full Version : DirecTV runs ads on PPV channels
This info was gleaned from the latest column written by Tom Shales in "Electronic Media". I don't buy any PPV movies but it still irritates me to find out that they are now doing this. Here's the link to Tom's column:

They aren't advertising during the movie, just between the movies. No big deal. Movies that are supposed to start at 8:00 p.m. will still start at 8:00 p.m. with no commercial interruption.

And from what I have seen they are Blockbuster ads. Which is no biggie since your tuned to Blockbuster Pay Per View on DirecTV.

That's pretty much what some people said when AMC started running commercial spots between their movies. Incidentally, Tom Shales says that the ads he's seen have been for subscriptions to Entertainment Weekly magazine. Tom is well respected and his credibility is impeachable.
