View Full Version : What do you think of Moxi?
Is it going to be a great receiver?
I think it will, but it's missing HDTV. :)
Here is a link where you can read about Moxi reciver.

Moxi is vaporware.
There are conflicting reports about the extent of the Moxi - Echostar relationship.
DirecTV entered into a 5 year agreement with TiVo. This agreement is binding if the merger goes through.
Moxi as a company is having some internal troubles. The CEO stepped down since the CES debut of Moxi.
And I think both Moxi and Microsoft are putting too much faith in consumers wanting all-in-one settop boxes. Just look at the TV/VCR combo or the TV/DVD combo. Both have their niche market, but do you see either configuration in a large segment of the productlines?
I wouldn't say Moxi is vaporware just yet.
Who knows if Moxi survives what exactly its going to be, maybe It won't be missing HDTV? Guess time will tell.
The current MOXI demo units DO HAVE HDTV built in! However when they are actually made it will be up to the manufacturer to decide if they want the HD support of not.
I think that this receiver is really good. If it will come out this year, I will buy it.
I wouldn't quite compare Moxi to a TV-VCR/DVD combo but I can see the relation. Moxi is more of a 'digital convergence' device, allowing the consumer to operate many different aspects of home entertainment from one central device.
It's not like sticking 2 separate devices in the same box.
