Hi Everyone

We has a wind gust back where I live and the next morning I saw that I lost signal on 110. I get good signal on standard defition (119) and get perfect reception on standard definition via the DVR. Its the 811 that is not getting any signal.

I ran switch test and it came back saying "Status=Warning. ONly 1 sattelite is
connected "

Searched here and found out that people got it working by just moving the dish. I am hoping mine is an allignment issue as well. How do I get this working?

I am not sure how to approach this. Can someone please advice.

Any help appreciated.

Regards
Vinny

Hello!

What is your signal strength on 119? (menu 6-1-1).

Do you know what kind of dish & hardware you have? Chances are if it is a D500 and you are getting 119 just OK, you should be getting 110 as well...

Perhaps a visual inspection of the dish to see if an LNB or cable came lose after the wind storm.

More than likely your antenna got blown out of alignment. Curious though, since you are able to get programming off of 119, unless you have a separate dish for 110.

The best way to re-align is to go to the signal strength meter (menu 6-1-1), while having someone monitoring the strength on 110 TP 21 and able to talk to you (cell phone/radio/shout out the window), very slowly sweep the dish to the left and right until they see the highest signal strength. You may also have to do a vertical adjustment as well - repeating the same procedure as above. A satellite finder can help you find the satellite again.

If all else fails, call your local installer!

Hello there

thanks for the quick response. I have a DISH500 and subscribe Hi Def via Dish 811 and a sual tuner DVR. Checking signal on 119 shows around 107 to 124. Here is the error I see after SWITCH TEST

LNBs: DP-Twin-1
Input: 1 2
Sat: 119 Conn
Pol: All X
Dev: Twin Twin
Status: WARNING - only one satellite connected

Talking to dishsupport, they say I need to move the dish down to 26 degrees and rotate 1/8" of an inch towards east. AI am a little apprehensive of doing it becase I dont want to lose my existing reception on 119. At the same time, dish wants 100 bucks to send someone to do it. If its not a equipment malfunction, I would like to give this a shot and allign it myself. Please advice on how to approach this.

Thanks

Are you receiving all channels on your dual tuner DVR that aren't HD? Are you receiving a signal (on installation screen) on 110 on the DVR?

If you get everything fine on the DVR but not the 811, try unplugging all SAT connections from your DVR and 811, unplug power to the DVR and 811, then wait a minute and plug everything back in and then do a check switch again. You might also try swapping the DVR with the 811 to see if maybe a cable came lose or went bad in the windstorm. The funny thing is, if you are still getting 119, then the only explanation for that happening and the cause being wind is that the wind would have had to spin the dish exactly by about 10 degrees - which I find pretty unlikely. Maybe the DP twin has gone bad?

I will try to swap DVR to 811 and see if it works. What would it mean if the DVR functions normal on all channels except HD channels after doing this? (this should be expected right since I get good signal on 119)

I did the power off check as usual and still no results. All regular channels are workign fine in DVR. With 811, only some channels are showing up.

Also why would you think it is unlikely that wind moved the dish? How do we say its just a misallingment vs faulty DP twin?

Here is a weird thing I saw. Maybe this will tell something...

My NBA League pass works fine in DVR. So I assumed it should work fine with 811. Turns out, the game that is showing on DVR showed with a message "THis program may have been blacked out" in 811. I was confused how this could be possible. Shouldnt 811 pick the signal from 119 for this?

Guys

Its the damnest thing. I turn on my 811 this morning and ran a switch test, and out of nowhere, I got both sattelites connected and now everything is back to normal. I dont understand this.

Later in the noon, I turned on and it showed an error 002 and something about possible use of long wire etc...I ignored it and still managed to get everything working.

I dont get this. Did the wind god taketh ad gave it back to me after 5 days?
