Tomorrow (Monday, 23rd), Canada will have its national election - does anyone know of any news channel that will be covering this election?

If you want my wild guess, I would say that CBC would cover this election. And, in the past, C-SPAN has carried CBC broadcasts.

Cable Pulse 24, which is available in an online stream (mms://a821.l1159536820.c11595.n.lm.akamaistream.net/D/821/11595/v0001/reflector:36820) will likely have some coverage.

CSPAN will join the CBC coverage as soon as the US House and Senate adjourn.

This is when you miss Newsworld, which simulcast the entire CBC coverage.

And why I am at it, the CBC's vote projection methods leaves a lot to be desired. As soon as the polls close they give the status of the parties being "ahead or declaired" in each district ("riding" in Canadian). Declaired I get, that means that enough votes have been counted to decide the winner. However "ahead" just means that a particular candidate is ahead in the current count. Often only one princinct is counted and a minor party will be shown as "ahead". All the time the announcer is telling you that the "ahead or declaired" statistic is totally worthless for the reason I just outlined.

I hope the conservative party does well. Paul Martin needs to go.

C-SPAN picks up the CBC feed starting a 9:30 ET, with results available at 10.

An appeals court reinstated the rule, which was declared unconstitutional (or whatever they call the concept in Canada) during the last election that results cannot be broadcast until the polls close. That means that no Canadian based web site can have results until the polls close in British Columbia, and the TV and radio coverage cannot be broadcast until the same is done in each time zone. C-SPAN is picking up the ET based coverage, so no show until 9:30.

This rule means that 90% of the seats will have been decided and declaired, before any results are broadcast to the PTZ, but those with a "grey" US dish could watch THEIR OWN CONTRY'S main TV network hours before that.

:D Now hopefully some of the other English speaking nations will follow suit.
