It seems like I read bad install experiences all the time on here, but I wanted to share my GREAT experience. If you don't care, please move on to another thread, otherwise please read on. In fact, I would love if someone from Dish read this and PM'd me so that the installer could receive the credit he deserves. Honestly, this is the type of individual that you want working for you! I have had E* for about 9 months and live in the Atlanta area. When I had my original install it was my first experience with satellite and really didn't know what I needed (I guess the key was that I didn't know that more satellites are better :D ). When I had my original install several months ago I just had a Dish 500 installed with the 120, HD and locals package.
After reading these boards for awhile and understanding what was out there I decided I'd like to check out Voom as well. Luckily Atlanta has a couple of must carry channels on 61.5 so I called Dish to ask for those channels. I got through in a very reasonable 2 mins and requested the channels. The Rep was very knowledgeable and completed the request quickly. She scheduled my install for the next day that I would be in town (a Sat morning). She actually offered to install the day after I called, but I was out of town for business.
My install time was between 8 and noon and the installer arrived at 10:30. I had already scouted the area and knew that it would be impossible to position the Dish at the same location that my 119/110 dish 500 was located because of the LOS to the 61.5 bird. The installer offered several possible locations and I opted for my scouted location - which he also suggested (a poll mount in the back corner of my yard that was hidden from view by a couple bushes). He did a very solid concrete mount and burried the line all the way up to the current dish (without making a mess of things). He was very nice and I talked to him for a good while. Even with the pain in the butt poll mount and the long line run he completed in a little over an hour. I ended up with a great signal strength and everything is working perfectly.
Anyway, sorry for the long story, but I wanted to make sure that people don't only hear the bad stories. Thanks Dish!
