I just noticed that the 942 does not have s-video or composite out for TV1. What I was trying to do is use s-video or composite for SD content and HDMI for HD content.
IS this possible? Can I use the TV2 output to the same TV as the TV1 output is going?

I have not tried it but I see no reason why not. Just curious, why not watch SD over the HDMI?

I have posted questions about not being happy with the quality of SD PQ on my 50" plasma. Some people suggested using s-vdeo or even composite because the digital connections may introduce noise in to a non-hd picture.
Not sure of the accuracy of that statement but I thought I would try it....

Have you tried Component connections? They are not digital.

Yep, that is what I am using now.

You can do this if you run the 942 in single mode. The problem is that the TV2 output will be anamorphic 16x9. (SD programs will be tall and skinny with black sidebars.) This is a problem that I had hoped would be fixed, but it never has. The 942 does do a pretty good job of upconverting SD. (To me, in single mode the TV2 output looks to be a downconvert of TV1.

In dual mode, the aspect ratio on TV2 is 4x3 and is correct, so that would be an option to try, as well. Personally, I'm happy viewing all channels, HD and SD, over the HDMI connection. The only bad thing is that you can see how much some of the SD programming is compressed.
