View Full Version : Question about Waivers

I am looking into getting satellite TV instead of cable. Not sure yet what I want to do. Right now I have an antenna on the roof of my house with a 20db amp and FM trap. With this I can get a clear NBC picture, a mostly clear CBS picture (subject to interference easily), a fair ABC picture, a clear PBS picture, and an extremely fuzzy FOX picture. Now CBS has some audio quality issues depending on what show is on. FOX is annoying to watch and even if it was a clear picture, its like you are trying to watch an online video stream (just bad). I do not have locals available on Dish and according to the network qualifier I am only eligible for national PBS.

I have asked around the local stores about the success of waivers around here and I am told that FOX is a good bet and ABC is slim. CBS and NBC are nil. Are there any things I can do to increase my chance of getting a waiver granted (ex: tell Dish that my landlord won't allow any rooftop antennas)? Any suggestions would be great.

waivers are strictly from the station. dish has nothing to do with the waiver itself :(

So even if Dish came over to install and I showed them a bunch of fuzzy stations that are not viewable they couldn't do anything? It would still be in the hands of the local TV station?

yup. there are known zipcodes that when you call they already know you are available for distants. but for anyone not in the known areas, YOU have to get waivers from your local stations

Okay. Thanks for the info. I guess I'll take it easy on the Dish reps if I sign up.
